Privacy Policy
Summary
Player Diff does not collect or sell your personal data. We don't run analytics, we don't use cookies, and we don't ask you to create an account. The Site stores small UI preferences and your search history in your browser only (via localStorage and sessionStorage). When you look up a Riot ID, the Site queries Riot Games' public API for that account's publicly available game data.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
- No accounts. The Site has no sign-up or login.
- No first-party analytics. The Site itself does not load Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom, or similar dedicated analytics trackers. Third-party advertising networks, if and when used, may perform their own measurement and tracking — see Section 5.
If the Site is hosted on a third-party platform (e.g. a cloud provider), that platform may keep standard server access logs (IP address, request URL, user agent) for operational and security purposes. Those logs are managed by the hosting provider, not by the Site operator.
2. Data Stored in Your Browser
The Site uses your browser's localStorage and sessionStorage to remember small bits of state across visits. None of this data is sent to a server. It includes:
- Search history — Riot IDs you have searched, so the search bar can autocomplete recent queries.
- UI preferences — whether certain sections are collapsed, and which sub-tab in the Insights panel was last open.
- Compare list favorites — Riot IDs you have starred for the side-by-side player comparison feature.
- Active compare session — the players currently loaded into the comparison view (cleared when you close the browser).
3. How to Clear Your Local Data
You can clear all data the Site has stored in your browser at any time:
- Per-site: open your browser's developer tools (F12) → Application tab → Storage → "Clear site data".
- Globally: use your browser's "Clear browsing data" feature and include cookies and site data.
Clearing this data will remove your search history, favorited compare cards, and saved UI preferences for the Site.
4. Third-Party Services
When you load the Site, your browser also makes requests to the following third parties:
- Riot Games API — proxied through this Site's server. Your browser does not call Riot directly; it asks our server, which then asks Riot. Game data returned is public (Riot ID, match history, ranks, etc.).
- Data Dragon (
ddragon.leagueoflegends.com) — Riot's official asset CDN. Champion, item, rune, and summoner-spell images load directly from this domain. Riot may log standard request metadata. - Google Fonts (
fonts.googleapis.comandfonts.gstatic.com) — supplies the typefaces used on the Site. Google may log standard request metadata. - jsDelivr CDN (
cdn.jsdelivr.net) — supplies the Chart.js library used to render graphs. jsDelivr may log standard request metadata. - Advertising networks — the Site may load resources from third-party advertising networks (e.g. Google AdSense or similar). Those networks process request data under their own privacy policies. See Section 5 for details and opt-out options.
These services have their own privacy policies; the Site operator does not control how they handle request data.
5. Advertising
The Site may display advertisements served by third-party advertising networks. To deliver, target, and measure those ads, those networks may use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers, and similar technologies that operate independently of the Site. The categories of data they may collect include IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed on the Site, and activity across other websites that participate in the same ad networks. Some ads may be personalized based on this data, while others may be contextual (based on page content rather than browsing history).
You can opt out of personalized advertising from many networks at once via these industry tools:
- Network Advertising Initiative — optout.networkadvertising.org
- Digital Advertising Alliance — optout.aboutads.info
- Your Online Choices (EU) — youronlinechoices.eu
- Google Ads Settings — adssettings.google.com (applies if Google-served ads are displayed)
You can also use your browser's privacy controls or install an ad blocker. Each advertising provider operates under its own privacy policy, which governs how it collects and uses data; the Site operator does not control those practices. Advertisements shown on the Site are not endorsements of the advertised products or services by the Site operator.
6. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you are below that age, please do not use the Site.
7. Your Rights
Because the Site does not collect personal data on its own servers, requests to access, correct, or delete personal data are largely not applicable. You can clear all locally stored data yourself at any time using the steps in section 3. If you have concerns about data displayed by the Site that comes from Riot's APIs, those records are managed by Riot Games, not by this Site. Concerns about data collected by advertising networks should be directed to those networks under their own privacy policies; you can also exercise the opt-outs listed in section 5.
8. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected here; continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
